3 Reasons Why RSS Is Underrated
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is, like email, one of the foundational technologies of the old Internet. It allows anyone to subscribe to a website’s content with no middleman. But unlike email…it never took off among the broader public. But it’s still around and more necessary than ever!
Control over Content
We all know about algorithms and how they please us, manipulate us, know us, spy on us, etc. It doesn’t have to be that way. For accounts & creators who still publish on the open web (rather than a closed platform), RSS allows anyone to get their work directly with no middleman.
RSS Is Customizable with No Ads
There are so many RSS readers out there. I use one directly in my browser. They are lightweight, customizable, and have NO ADS. I have alerts set for once per week so I can stay informed on my industry and city without getting interrupted all the time.
RSS Makes a Great Hub
Jumping around from one closed garden to another is no fun. RSS makes for a solid single hub for information.
Go check out FeedBro (or another RSS reader in the Chrome Webstore or Firefox Add-Ons), drop in a website and explore from there.
