3 Reasons Why Online Libraries Are Underrated
Most everyone in the US has access to an online version of their library. But I can almost guarantee that it’s underrated in your mental list of “information / entertainment sources.”
Online Libraries Are Way More Than Books
Sure, ebooks are their bread and butter. But most systems offer digital magazines, including those expensive ones that keep hitting you with a paywall (New Yorker, etc), newspapers (again, including ones that charge a subscription like NYT and WSJ), along with movie streaming, college courses, academic databases, business reference databases*, genealogy services, etc, etc.
*I got a massive career break when I was the first salesman at my company to use a business reference database to find new clients.
Online Libraries Are Always Open
Yes, it’s obvious but it’s also something I take for granted. I work from home, so our physical libraries’ 10 to 6 weekday hours aren’t a huge deal. But when I worked a 9 to 5, or when I’m traveling now, the online library keeps me reading.
Search Is Simpler
I am all for the serendipity of browsing a well-stocked library shelf. But sometimes, there’s a specific book you want or you simply want to read reviews & summaries quickly. That’s where an online library shines. Try out tools like NovelistPlus to find novels that fit exactly what you are looking for.
