Start of the Atlanta Marathon

Start of the Atlanta Marathon 1

Most years, I get to run either the full or the half marathon in Atlanta. It usually takes place early in the year, in late February or early March. It’s a great event with a great course, but it’s always funny just being part of such a giant crowd that is out to…run.

The giant crowd is awkward at first, but it’s interesting just how quickly it thins out into a manageable race. One thing about a crowd is that it “outsources” willpower – at least for me. There is always someone to “run with” or “catch up to” – useful fictions to keep up motivation.
