Red-cockaded woodpeckers’ recovery in southeast leads to status change from endangered to threatened
Habitat restoration FTW -> Red-cockaded woodpeckers’ recovery in southeast leads to status change from endangered to threatened
Endangered species are usually more than themselves. They are usually a key indicator of how we’re conserving & treating our land. Most species don’t need hand holding or overbearing obsession. They just need a bit of habitat.
There have been a lot of people, agencies, institutions, and regular landowners involved in preserving the Longleaf forests of Georgia. And the fact that the Red Cockaded Woodpecker is no longer Endangered is an indicator that we’re using & managing the land of middle Georgia they way it’s supposed to be used & managed.
