The best financial advice I can give you is to sell your car
This post from Hanna Horvath is such an incredible piece on the *total* costs of car ownership -> https://yourbrainonmoney.substack.com/p/the-best-financial-advice-i-can-give
My Own Tips Regarding Cars
- Small changes add up. That means reducing miles however possible. The IRS and USDOT keep track of total costs.
- Housing drives miles – especially work, grocery, errands, etc.
- Depreciation is the wealth destroyer you never see.
- Small maintenance is better than large maintenance.
- Never go tribal. We’re all just people trying to get from Point A to Point B. There are no “bike people” or “war on cars” or “train lobby”. It’s costs, geometry, efficiency, safety, freedom, and legality. You don’t have to be a “bike person” to swap in one trip now and then for a bike or walk or scoot.
