The Peachtree Center Ave. Cycletrack in Downtown Atlanta

I’ve been cycling in Atlanta ever since we moved here in 2013. And while I wouldn’t call Atlanta the next Copenhagen, cycling infrastructure has been getting dramatically better throughout town.

Atlanta adopted a Bicycle Infrastructure Master Plan (and allocated budget!) to developing better cycling infrastructure.

It’s making things safer, better – and even helping relieve car congestion. Here’s video of the new cycletrack along Peachtree Center Ave. in Downtown Atlanta. Note how it physically separates bikes from cars, which has a nice bonus of further separating pedestrians from cars. There’s the same amount of car traffic throughput, but in a much safer environment.
