The future of country music is here, and it’s AI
Sensationalist title, but I like how it digs into the specific *jobs* in the music industry that are going away -> The future of country music is here, and it’s AI
Ok, I learned a few things from this piece –
- that “track guy” or “demo guy” is a full-time job
- that every industry has insanely specialized roles in a cluster (like Nashville is for music)
- that *speed* is the most underrated factor in AI use – this tracks (pun!) with my experience
- that there are still major chokepoints in the production process that AI can’t bypass
Lastly, I don’t think anyone who hasn’t worked a blue collar / construction job can quite fathom how much music is listened to *passively*. Back when I used to sell lumber and work as a plumber, country music was *everywhere, all the time* blasting out of someone’s DeWalt speaker system as the background to buzzing sawzalls, banging hammers, and whirring chopsaws. Even though there is plenty of good country music, it’s always been about the background vibe, which AI can handle just fine.
