I think this piece from Buttondown could actually go further. Everything on the Internet is a post. It’s not a “substack” or a “tweet” or a “pin” or “thread” or “blog” or “newsletter” – it’s just a post. It’s all a post.

Sure where you post matters. A post on Facebook can only be seen by folks logged into Facebook. A post on a self-hosted blog can be seen by…whomever you want it to be seen by. A post on Mastodon can be seen by whomever you want it to be seen by. Ditto every other platform that provides a slightly difference experience for how you post and how your post is experienced.

But it’s all a post.
