I’ve never self-published a book of my own (though I have helped others self-publish). I love the democracy and opportunity of it, but so far I’ve always just preferred the writing on the Open Web. I love how this guide breaks down all the tradeoffs of ALL the methods.

I also found his note about the general trend of text as a medium to be…right on. Short video is eating the world’s attention. But, I’m still bullish on text in general and the open web specifically to be the medium that lasts. I don’t think you can beta the density of text and I don’t think you can beat the versatility of HTMLs and permalinks.

Business models & discovery are trickier…but there are ways around it.
