I Ditched the Algorithm for RSS—and You Should Too

Brilliant, brilliant post -> I Ditched the Algorithm for RSS—and You Should Too

RSS is still – like email – a fundamental part of how the Internet works. It’s taken for granted and forgotten about…but it’s still there!

When Google Reader was killed, I had a small hope that Feedly would make RSS cool, hip, and as convenient as Twitter. But alas, they did not.

I use FeedBro with Mozilla Firefox. And love it. I need to remember to add more Reddit RSS so I don’t have to use that site as much. But Chrome users have a ton of options in addition to standalone apps that are still around like Feedly.

Either way, they all get you out of artificial media feeds that keep you “engaged” – i.e., tuned out out of the real world and into intentional attention.
