Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle

Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes is an underrated collection of eleven short stories, published in 1893. The cases range from seemingly random domestic mysteries to matters of international intrigue. Notable stories include “Silver Blaze,” where a champion racehorse disappears, and “The Naval Treaty,” involving stolen government documents.
I love how Watson seems to get better at detective work in these and becomes more of a partner than a chronicler. I also love the stories where Holmes takes justice into his own hands and lets the lawbreaker free – to achieve actual justice rather than just legal compliance. They are always worth a read (and re-read!).
This collection of stories is underrated and has some of my favorites.
