Bunker Hill

Bunker Hill

While visiting Boston, I got to walk up to Bunker Hill (i.e., the one battle that every American kid learns about from the US War for Independence).

  1. It’s much closer to downtown Boston than I expected – crazy how small and dense cities used to be.
  2. Even with all the buildings, it’s definitely a commanding position and obvious why you’d want to control it.
  3. Going to a famous place in the physical world is always different than I expect. However, it is funny how it’s even more meaningful in person.
  4. The monument commemorating the spot is huge.
  5. The battle itself is deeply ironic to this day – we lost the battle but won the war.
