Cohutta Wilderness from East Cowpen Trail

East Cowpen Trail affords some of the best views of the interior of the Cohutta Wilderness.

The Cohutta Wilderness is 40,000+ acres of the Chattahoochee National Forest that is set aside by the US Congress under the Wilderness Act as an “area where the earth and its community of life are untrammeled by man, ensuring that these lands remain in their natural condition henceforth.”

Even though the area was abused & exploited up to a century ago, it has recovered and is a true gem in Georgia.*
