The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest by Stieg Larsson
The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest is the third novel in the best-selling Millennium series by Swedish writer Stieg Larsson. The book was published in Swedish in 2007 and in English in October 2009.
The novel is a courtroom drama that follows the story of Lisbeth Salander, who lies in critical condition with a bullet wound to her head. She is fighting for her life in more ways than one, as she will be taken back to Stockholm to stand trial for three murders if and when she recovers.
The main themes of the book include comeuppance, examining how society chooses to treat those it does not understand, how madness is defined, and how easy it is to look the other way. The novel also explores the relationship between Salander and Blomkvist, who become lovers during the investigation.
