Global Manufacturing Has Likely Peaked, Even in Poor Countries, New Study Finds

A much bigger economic story than AI -> Global Manufacturing Has Likely Peaked, Even in Poor Countries, New Study Finds

This story was from December 2023, and it did not get enough press. Most everyone knows (broadly) that from 1900 until now the number of humans that it takes to grow our food has gone from more than 50% down to 1%. In the US,most everyone is a generation (at least) removed from having a parent who worked as a farmer.

But apparently, humanity is already at peak manufacturing employment. We no longer need more humans to be able to make the physical things that we all want. Everyone, from now on, will be shifting towards services, even in the underdeveloped world.
