Biking The Michelle Obama Trail along Georgia’s South River
Even though the Atlanta Beltline tends to dominate the alternative transportation discussion in Atlanta, the PATH Foundation has been building out an entire network of protected trails around Metro Atlanta.
The trails aren’t quite all connected, but they are in their own right-of-way off major roads. And they are *incredible*. I went to check out the Michelle Obama trail, which makes up a section of the South River Network in south DeKalb county. It winds along the South River from the Gresham Rd Recreation Center under Interstate 285 to the DeKalb satellite campus of Georgia State University.
Eventually, it will continue on past Intrenchment Creek Park via Intrenchment Creek to the Southside Beltline. Hoorah!
