Bike Lanes on Glenwood
Slowly but systematically, Atlanta is becoming a better place to bike for transportation.
This summer, the Atlanta BeltLine extended through a very busy commercial area and chokepoint on Bill Kennedy Way. Amazingly, they did is by taking away parking from cars. Like so much biking / walking infrastructure, it’s a build it and they will come situation.
Before this summer, there were plenty of walkable / bikable residential and commercial places…but I very rarely saw anyone braving the narrow sidewalk across Interstate 20 amongst the cars, trucks, and parked vehicles.
Now, with planters and concrete dividers, it’s a well-used path at all hours of the day…and ironically, car traffic moves just fine as well, as seen over and over in other cities.
