Trips in 2020

January 1, 2021 By Nate Shivar

Here’s all the trips that I took this past year.

Due to public health recommendations, we cancelled all planned trips and stuck to camping trips where we did not have to stop or interact with anyone along the way (so a 2 hour radius).

Business, Leisure & Family Trips

Victoria Bryant State Park – Fall 2020 – We stayed a few nights at the Bluebird Cottage. It was a lovely, small, quiet park. Good for hikers and golfers.

Fort Mountain State Park – Summer 2020 – We stayed at one of our favorite State Park cabins. Weather was hot, but had the Park to ourselves.

Find a list of past trips and places visited in my Travel category.

Recent / Upcoming Hiking & Camping Trips

DeSoto Falls – December 2020 – Overnight – We camped at one of the best Forest Service campgrounds in Georgia. Cold, but quiet and nice.

Dicks Creek Gap to Bly Gap – November 2020 – Overnight – We did a very tough hike out and back to the border on the AT.

Tallulah River Rd – October 2020 – Overnight – We camped at a roadside site since the corridor and campgrounds were crowded. Lovely area.

Lake Russell – August 2020 – Overnight – We camped at a great Forest Service campground with a great swimming area and lovely scenery.

Lake Conasauga – July 2020 – Overnight – We camped at a great Forest Service campground that was remote and lovely.

West Fork Chattooga River @ Chattahoochee NF – June 2020 – Overnight – We camped roadside along the West Fork, which is super-popular with anglers.

Panola Mountain State Park – June 2020 – Overnight – We camped at our go-to State Park campsite. It was hot, but plenty to see and do. The sites are nice.

High Falls State Park – March 2020 – Day Hike – The Oconee National Forest was too muddy, so I explored High Falls’ few short loops.

Little River @ Oconee NF – February 2020 – Overnight – We did a dispersed camp in the Oconee National Forest shortly after hunting season.

Burgess Mountain Trail – February 2020 – Day Hike – I did a short day hike and lunch on Burgess Mountain Trail, which is quite overgrown in the summer.

Sweetwater Creek State Park – January 2020 – Overnight – We stayed in the yurts for a night to try them out and get out of the house. Great time.

Any write-ups of trips will appear in my Outdoor category.
