How John Grisham Writes So Many Books 1

John Grisham has written an entire book every year for the past 10 to 15 years. I’ve always assumed that he was either superhuman or he worked with a team of ghostwriters.

Turns out that it’s not that complicated. He has a process and the discipline to follow the process.

Here’s his short talk to Random House on how he writes.

John Grisham’s Process –

  • Start a book in January. Finish drafting in March. Ready for publication in July.
  • From January to March, write from 7am to 10am every day for 5 days per week.
  • Write between 1000 to 2000 words per day within an outline that is already completed.
  • Use the same offline computer at the same desk with the same coffee.
