Here’s all the trips that I took in 2022. There were lots of logistics and expenses, but I’m thankful I got to see some of the world after the pandemic calmed down.

Smithgall Woods State Park – December 2022 – Amazing park, great visit.
Black Rock Mountain State Park – October 2022 – Scenic park in North Georgia.
Chattahoochee Bend State Park – September 2022 – Lovely park in Middle Georgia.
St George Island – July 2022 – Visit to Florida’s Gulf coast. The St George Island State Park is beautiful landscape.
Florence Marina State Park – July 2022 – We stayed at this small State Park on our way to Florida and visited Providence Canyon. Lovely area.
Chicago – June 2022 – 4 night trip to one of my favorite cities. Did the tourist stuff / museums. Lots of fun.
Fort King George State Historic Site – April 2022 – Short visit to one of the most underrated tourist sites in Georgia. Very cool.
Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge – April 2022 – Day trip to one of the world’s most important natural areas.
Cumberland Island National Seashore – April 2022 – Day trip to a really special place on Georgia’s coast.
Crooked River State Park – April 2022 – Super-scenic park in coastal Georgia.
Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation State Historic Site – April 2022 – A short visit to a really cool and well-preserved property on the Georgia coast.
Middle Georgia – March 2022 – A day trip to see the Macon downtown riverwalk, Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park, and Jarrell Plantation. Bravo Macon – very fun day.
Smithgall Woods State Park – February 2022 – One of Georgia’s hidden gems. Shhhh :)

Cloudland Canyon State Park – December 2022 – A two night trip where we stayed in a yurt instead of a tent. Amazing State Park.
Tugaloo State Park – November 2022 – A two night camping trip to an amazing, well-maintained State Park. The walk-in sites are A+.
Cohutta Wilderness – October 2022 – An overnight backpacking trip on the Tearbritches to Chestnut Lead loop. Very tough due to blowdown and route finding.
Gates of The Arctic National Park – July 2022 – A four night backpacking trip in Northern Alaska.
Lake Conasauga Campground – June 2022 – A two night camping trip at the best Forest Service campground in Georgia (shhhh!).
Upper Chattahoochee Campground – June 2022 – A two night camping trip at a recently re-opened campground in North Georgia. Lovely area – buggy in June.
Jacks River Fields Campground – April 2022 – A two night camping trip at a small, primitive campground near the Cohutta Mountains.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park – March 2022 – A three day, 33 mile backpacking trip through the Hazel Creek watershed. Beautiful, tough, with lots of solitude.
Vogel State Park – February 2022 – A very cold (20F) trip to one of Georgia’s best located state parks.
